Volume Authenticity
A token can look busy and popular while its trading is entirely fake: bots swapping with themselves to draw you in. Volume Authenticity samples the actual onchain swaps and tells you how much of the activity is real versus wash (fake).
The verdict badge
The section header shows one verdict:
| Verdict | What it means |
|---|---|
| organic (green) | The trading looks like real, independent buyers and sellers. |
| mixed (orange) | Some real activity, some bot/wash; read with caution. |
| wash-heavy (orange/red) | Most of the "volume" is fake. Price signals are unreliable. |
| botted / fake volume (red) | Essentially all bot activity; the chart is theatre. |
| distributing (red) | Insiders/team are steadily selling into the market. |
| dumping (red) | A coordinated sell-off is happening now. |
On feed cards the same read appears as a small badge: organic, mixed, wash, fake vol, distributing, or dumping.
The bar and the numbers
Below the verdict, a two-colour bar shows the split of sampled swaps (real vs. wash), and a stats line summarises the sample, for example:
78% organic · 22% wash · 61% dominant · 4 round-trippers · sell-led · 91 swaps / 15m
- organic %: share of swaps that look like genuine trading.
- wash %: share flagged as fake (self-trading bot pairs with no real price discovery).
- dominant %: how one-sided the flow is. Very one-sided selling supports a distributing / dumping read.
- round-trippers: wallets rapidly buying and selling to manufacture volume.
- buy-led / sell-led / balanced: the net pressure right now.
- swaps / Nm: how many swaps were analysed, over how many minutes.
How to use Volume Authenticity
- Discount the price action on non-organic tokens. If it's wash-heavy or botted, the market cap and chart are not telling you what real demand looks like.
- Treat distributing / dumping as urgent. These mean sellers (often insiders) are in control right now.
- Pair it with liquidity. Real volume on thin liquidity still means you could struggle to sell without moving the price.
New users often read "high volume" as "popular and safe." It's frequently the opposite: fabricated volume exists specifically to attract buyers to a token the operators intend to dump. This section exists to protect you from exactly that.
